2020 & 2021 - COVID-19 RESPONSE & SAFETY MEASURES
In response to the risk posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, and in the interest of protecting the health of all involved, The Children’s Christmas Party of Jacksonville will not be able to hold our in-person toy distribution event in December, 2021. We fulfilled our mission last year, the first year of the pandemic, by safely providing 18,000 toys to over 5,000 children in need who were enrolled in several pre-selected, non-profit programs in Duval County. We plan to use this same method to distribute toys for this year.
2021 - A LEGACY OF SMILES WILL CONTINUE
For 23 years, our mission has been to provide toys to Jacksonville’s children in need, and we have fulfilled that mission every year since Travis and Margaret Storey started the event in 1999. This year, the second holiday season in the pandemic, we plan to continue our legacy by safely providing toys to as many as 6,000 children, even though we must modify the way we distribute toys. Our goal in future years will be to provide toys at a fun, in-person party for families and volunteers.
Let’s all hope and pray for that!
2019 - A NORMAL YEAR
Two years ago, on a cold December day, 4,000 children along with their parents waited in a long line at the Christmas Party for a chance to meet Santa and pick out several new toys. Hundreds of volunteers enjoyed handing out toys to the children and providing entertainment and security. The children went home with warm smiles, fun toys and special memories, exactly what every child should have during the holidays.
